The Democratic Labor Party has returned to New South Wales.
Since the 1950’s the D.L.P. has operated continuously in Victoria and now we are making a comeback in N.S.W. The corruption and nepotism of the major parties must be challenged. We can no longer afford to be apathetic about the big business interests and foreign interests and extremist ideologies that influence and guide our state and federal governments.
Now is the time to act. We are now starting again in N.S.W. with a political party that will represent working Australians and pursue the national interest. Australia must remain a self reliant and sovereign nation that serves the interests of Australian citizens. The Democratic Labor Party is the real Labor party. The D.L.P. is the legitimate continuation of the party of Curtin and Chifley. The D.L.P. advocates:
NO MORE PRIVATISATION - The D.L.P. stands for real Labor principles. That means no more privatisation of our public infrastructure. We want a mixed market economy where our existing public infrastructure remains owned by the Australian public and operated by the public service. We want to put an end to systems and schemes where the profit is privatised and the loss is socialised. We are economic moderates as we advocate a measured balance of public and private sector.
GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT - The D.L.P. supports 100% of Government procurement being made in Australia. Government procurement represents billions of dollars of government spending. At the moment less than 50% of Government procurement is made in Australia and the situation is getting worse. This includes items such as the uniforms for our uniformed services, for example, the military and the police. We need a balanced and responsible approach to trade – one which does not preside over the destruction of all Australian manufacturing. This will give opportunities to Australians working in the private sector and it will help sustain Australian manufacturing industries. Government procurement is essentially infrastructure spending for the private sector and every cent of it should be spent on Australian industries and Australian jobs, not foreign industries and foreign jobs. Australian workers should compete with other Australian workers, not third world labour.
FOOD PRODUCTION - We are edging dangerously close to losing our food production industry in Australia. The D.L.P. will maintain food production in Australia and will not sacrifice it on the altar of free trade or any other dangerous ideology. Australia must maintain food production for countless reasons. This is not negotiable. For example, we are opposed to the importation of fresh fruit and vegetables. This is a clear case of where production can and should take place in Australia.
INFRASTRUCTURE SPENDING – Australia needs to have money spent on real infrastructure, not cash handouts. Real infrastructure spending creates real jobs. This means capital works programs where hundreds and thousands of apprenticeships and traineeships are commenced and completed by Australian workers, leading onto continuing and meaningful employment in both the public and private sector.
THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN DREAM – Home ownership needs to become a realistic and achievable goal for Australian wage earners and it is government’s responsibility to create the economic conditions in which this is possible for every working Australian. We want every Australian to have the opportunity to own their own home. Affordable housing for Australians must become a government priority.
TRADITIONAL MORALITY - Judeo-Christian morality is central to Western democracy. Judeo-Christian morality makes an overwhelming contribution to Western democracies that can not and should not be trivialised. Judeo-Christian traditions and institutions can and should be given a status that should not necessarily be extended to other traditions and institutions. Western democracies should give reasonable support to Judeo-Christian institutions, in preference to any other so called alternative, because the Judeo-Christian tradition ultimately supports democracy and the rule of law. Judeo-Christian beliefs are compatible with Western democracy – many other belief systems are not.
FOREIGN POLICY - We can trust foreign governments to the same extent that those governments trust their own citizens. This fundamental principle should form the basis on how we deal with foreign governments – especially where trade is concerned. Australia can trust real constitutional democracies. Other governments need to be treated with much more caution.
Our plan is simple. We intend to contest everything, but we are going to start with the Upper House, both state and federal, and we need you to give us a hand.
You can help us by filling in two forms: a membership application form and a form supplied by the NSW Electoral Commission stating that you are a member of the NSW DLP. We are not after money – only those who want to be financial should do so. We need you to fill in the forms and send them back, and when the N.S.W. Electoral Commission gets in touch with you by post, to check that you are a member, just tick the YES box and send it back to them in the postage paid envelope that they will provide. There is no money involved. By doing this you will help get the D.L.P. registered in N.S.W. We need to submit more than a thousand membership forms so that we can register the party in N.S.W.
The forms can be obtained by clicking on “become a member” in the navigation bar at the top of this page.
At no stage do you ever have to pay any money. Filling out the forms simply allows us to register the D.L.P. in N.S.W. Any financial support you may wish to give is purely voluntary. All donations are greatly appreciated. We would like to thank all those who have already contributed financially and otherwise. Please make out any cheques to: D.L.P. – N.S.W. Branch and address to: Michael O’Donohue, 4 Dianella Court, Warabrook, N.S.W., 2304 or deposit funds at the Commonwealth Bank (BSB 062 033 A/c 10383027) providing your name and purpose e.g. donation or membership fee.
So this is how you can help the cause.
Step 1 – Fill in the forms and return them to: Michael O’Donohue, 4 Dianella Court, Warabrook, N.S.W., 2304.
Step 2 – Reply to the N.S.W. Electoral Commission when they do a mail out to you, further down the track – tick YES.
You can help further by copying this information and the membership forms, and circulating them amongst your family, friends and anyone else you believe might be willing to support getting the D.L.P. registered in N.S.W.
